Guidebook: Chysauster And Carn Euny

PHOTO MISSING

Chysauster and Carn Euny comprise groups of stone-walled homesteads known as courtyard houses. Each house had an open central courtyard surrounded by a number of rooms roofed with turf or thatch. A feature of both villages was an underground walled passage known as a fogou, which may have been a store, a refuge, or even a religious cult centre.
