King Arthur Pewter Charger
Celebrate England's rich history with this magnificent charger plate. Made exclusively for English Heritage, it is engraved in the centre with an image of King Arthur's sword in a stone. It represents the magical Excalibur sword, which legend says Arthur plucked from a stone to become rightful king of England. Beneath are the words 'King Arthur Pendragon, Tintagel, Kernow'. Inhabited at least since Roman times, Tintagel Castle on Cornwall's craggy coastline was described as the birthplace of King Arthur in Sir Geoffrey of Monmouth's History of the Kings of Britain, and today it is steeped in Arthurian folklore.The charger is handmade in Sheffield, England, by expert pewter manufacturers, Wentworth. Founded in 1946 by Arthur Richard Wentworth, the company continues to use traditional skills and the same lead-free pewter alloy to produce exceptional items to treasure for years to come. A beautiful symbol of British history, the plate pays homage to the food-filled chargers that took centre stage at medieval banquets.
