Pewter was introduced to Britain by the Romans by the 2nd century AD. However as a trade it reached its zenith during the medieval period between the 11th and 16th centuries. At the time every town would have had its own pewter shop and craftsmen, whilst London was a centre for the export of pewter wares throughout Europe and became the home to the Worshipful Company of Pewterers in 1348, an organisation that still exists today. These designs reflect that illustrious tradition and inspired by the original designs of our celebrated forebears.
