The glass vase has been hand-blown in 24% lead crystal exclusively for English Heritage. It has been individually hand-engraved by master engraver Nick Davey with English Heritages specially commissioned Equinox design. Inspired by an original etching in the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes, it shows the interpretation of Stonehenge as a giant calendar, using the sun to predict the spring and summer equinoxes.Dartington was established in Torrington, Devon, in 1967, where its workshops are still based. Many of the original glassmakers came over from Sweden, teaching their skills to English craftsmen.
