Story Of Stonehenge Collectable Model

PHOTO MISSING

This highly collectable model of Stonehenge makes a beautiful souvenir to cherish for years to come. Display it on a shelf or table or in a cabinet as a constant reminder of the magic of this ancient site. The model has been created exclusively for English Heritage by Timothy Richards of Revival Arts of Bath, England. Overseen by English Heritages curatorial team, it is historically correct in every detail. It accurately depicts Stonehenge as it appeared in 2,300BC. This was a key stage in the history of Stonehenge, shortly after it was transformed from a simple earthwork enclosure to something spectacularly different. The design and layout of the model have been very carefully considered. Stonehenge is aligned with the rising and setting of the sun at midsummer and midwinter, and this model perfectly replicates this alignment.Around the outside of the model there is a detailed timeline of Stonehenge, spanning from the Mesolithic period, 8000 BC, to the Early Bronze Age, 1500 BC. It shows important developments in Stonehenges history, including when the sarsen stone circle and horseshoe was raised in the late Neolithic period. The model took over a year to develop, and started as a hand drawn sketch. This was used to produce a hand carved plaster model from which the final mould was formed. The base of each model is made from British Gypsum plaster, mined in England. This plaster allows the model maker to reveal the history in fine detail and also perfectly represents the natural stone of Stonehenge. Etched copper, secured by brass pins, has been used around the timeline to show the key dates. The top of the model is made from resin, a lighter and more durable material, ideal for smaller details.Timothy Richards has over 25 years of experience in making architectural models. Commissioned by leading organisations and private individuals, he is a master of his genre. In 2008 he set up Revival Arts of Bath, England, where he works alongside a team of experienced craftsmen.Key Features:Made in EnglandExclusive to English HeritageMoulded from a hand-carved originalMade in plaster and resin with copper and brass details
