This tapestry cushion design was originally produced by William Morris (1836-1896), the famous British artist and designer. It was woven circa 1885 on a high-warp loom, at Merton Abbey, Surrey. William Morris became well-known for his designs in the decorative arts and in development of various crafts, particularly tapestry-weaving. Favouring Medievalism and using the painstaking methods of the craftsman, he adapted the arts of the Middle Ages for the 'modern world' at the end of the 19th Century.Key Features:William Morris design tapestry cushion80% cotton, 16% viscose, 4% polyesterDry clean only
